AGB Announces New Slate of Consultants

Sep 6, 2016

Washington, D.C. – The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) is pleased to announce the addition of four new consultants to the AGB Consulting team. AGB Consulting provides individualized solutions for board members and campus leaders to respond to governance challenges and crises, and to successfully lead higher education systems, institutions, and affiliated foundations.

Francoise Aylmer, Charles R. Middleton, and Devona Williams have joined a vaunted list of higher education thought leaders as senior consultants, and Lawrence White has joined as a specialist.

Aylmer has a background in business, higher education, and nonprofits. She has led philanthropic foundations and university advancement at large state universities and in health organizations and is known for building successful teams focused on mission, goals, and results.

Middleton is chair of the board of trustees of the City Colleges of Chicago and the immediate past president of Roosevelt University. Previously, Middleton was a history professor and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder; provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bowling Green State University; and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University System of Maryland.

Williams is an expert in strategic planning, organizational performance assessment, development and improvement, focus group development and moderation, and meeting and retreat facilitation. She is a member of the board of trustees for Delaware State University, where she chairs the education policy committee.

White is currently senior counsel in the general counsel’s office at the University of New Hampshire. Prior to his retirement as a full-time university lawyer in 2015, he served as vice president and general counsel at the University of Delaware. He has also served as counsel at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Georgetown University, University of Virginia, and the American Association of University Professors.

“We are thrilled to add these accomplished professionals to our team of consultants,” said Merrill Schwartz, vice president for AGB Consulting. “Each brings a unique strength to our work, which will allow us to more precisely meet the ongoing needs of our client institutions. We look forward to their contributions.”
