How many members typically sit on the board of an institutionally related foundation?

A 2010 AGB survey revealed that institutionally related foundation boards have an average of 29 voting members.  Foundations with endowments of over $100 million average more voting board members (34) than foundations with assets of less than $100 million (26).  Foundations that are wholly independent from their institutions average more board members (32) than foundations that have some level of dependence (27).  Boards of foundations serving four-year institutions average more board members (30) than do foundations serving two-year institutions (24).
