How many members typically sit on the board of an independent institution?

A 2010 AGB survey revealed that boards of independent colleges and universities have an average of 29 voting members and range in size from five to 81. Specialized institution boards have an average of 20 members, associate's institutions an average of 21, baccalaureate colleges 30, master's institutions 31, and doctoral and research university boards have an average of 38 members.
