Has your board embraced innovation and demonstrated exceptional leadership? Has it overcome any great challenges in the past few years?
Last year, AGB’s call for nominations for the AGB John W. Nason Award for Board Leadership drew nearly 70 nominations describing impressive work led by boards of public, private, and foundation boards. Last year’s awards were given to five university or foundation boards that undertake initiatives to overcome adversity or enhance the student experience.
One of last year’s recipients ensured institutional survival by negotiating a presidential transition; creating a planning document to help chart the way forward; and implementing shared governance tenets to ensure the success of the new president.
Another recipient board initiated and implemented a wholesale transformation of its governance structures, significantly affecting both the university and its surrounding community.
The award honors boards that overcome adversity or demonstrate leadership. The award is a great opportunity to recognize your board if the members faced some challenge, arrived at a new solution, or showed leadership in some way. Nominate your board and recognize its leadership or courage.
