Jo M. Beld, Specialist, AGB Consulting

About

Dr. Jo M. Beld has been a member of the St. Olaf College community for over 30 years. Initially beginning her tenure as a professor of political science, she currently serves as the vice president for mission. In this role, Dr. Beld is executive liaison to the college’s board of regents, the accreditation liaison officer, Title IX coordinator, and a member of the president’s administrative leadership team.

Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Beld served as director of evaluation and assessment at St. Olaf, leading a program that received a 2010 award for Outstanding Institutional Practice in Student Learning Outcomes from the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. This work has been featured by the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment, and AGB.

Dr. Beld is engaged with a wide variety of organizations and initiatives in higher education. She serves as a speaker and workshop facilitator at a wide array of regional and national conferences and provided assessment consulting services to a variety of individual institutions, from liberal arts
colleges to research universities.

Professional Credentials

Dr. Beld earned her BA from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota and completed her PhD at Yale University. She is currently a member of the National Advisory Board for the National Survey of Student Engagement. She is also a consultant for a Teagle Foundation initiative aimed at enhancing the preparation of graduate students at research universities for effective and evidence-informed teaching.
