1 Leadership Strategies for Board Chairs of Public Colleges, Universities, and Systems
For incoming, new, and experienced board chairs of public institutions. Examine the distinctive work of public governing boards and how to assert leadership without micromanaging, work successfully with the president, make the agenda relevant and interesting, manage "hot topics" as well as difficult trustees, and keep politics out of discussions.

2 Seminar for New Trustees*
An essential session for new board members! Learn about the full range of trustee responsibilities and standards of best practice, with special attention to legal issues and accountability.   1 Strategic Finance for Presidents and Trustees
How are financial decisions linked to an institution’s strategic plan and priorities? Join this workshop to learn how presidential and board leadership can strengthen those connections, as well as about the financial responsibilities of the president and board in a strategically focused organization, and the relationships among the institution’s strategic plan, long-range financial plan, and annual budget. This seminar is will encourage discussion and Q & A to address their fiscal concerns.

2 The Effective Student Trustee*
The role of a student trustee is complex, challenging, and full of expectations. Through a series of facilitated discussions, exercises, and sharing, student trustees will explore ways to develop a successful strategy for making the most of their Trustee experience.

3 Intercollegiate Athletics and Board Governance
Intercollegiate athletics play a significant role in the lives of undergraduates. While presidents are responsible for ensuring the appropriateness of athletic programs, trustees retain their own measures of accountability and responsibility. The NCAA is working with AGB to assist trustees to better carry out their duties; this workshop is the product of the two organization’s collaboration.

4 Preparing for Presidential Assessment
Participants will share ideas and learn principles and best practices in annual and comprehensive presidential assessment and joint board/presidential assessment. The workshop will examine ways both to assess and to contribute to the leadership development of the president and of the board by exploring the concept of integral leadership.
